Jumpstart Your Fitness Journey
Today’s power move Monday is about making power moves for yourself. If you are not making power moves for yourself and you’re not healthy, then it’s going to be pretty hard to make power moves for your business or career.
I have lost 120 pounds over the last two years. So rest assured, this process does not happen overnight. The weight didn’t go on overnight and you won’t lose it overnight either. I consulted with my doctors, put some strategies into place and did what the medical and fitness experts have been saying to do since the beginning of time.
Here are the top 3 power moves I made to jumpstart my fitness journey.
Here are the TOP 3 power moves I made to jumpstart my fitness journey.
1. Water. Water. Water. I eliminated any beverage out of my diet that was not water. No carbonated drinks. No juices. No alcohol. In 2 weeks, I lost 12 lbs. I changed nothing in my diet except the beverage intake. Talk about a great jumpstart.
2. Portion Control. In a society of super size this and super size that it’s hard to know what a true portion is these days. I attempted to control my portions by eating from my son’s toddler plates. It was tough at first and I found myself going back for seconds and thirds but after a couple of weeks, the toddler plate sufficed
3. Fitness and Exercise. According to the internet memes, fitness and weight loss have more to do with your diet than with exercise. However, exercise is till crucial You don’t have to join a gym to get quality exercise. You can do many things at home, take walks, go for a run and much more…ALL FOR FREE. My local park actually has gym equipment set up that is also ADA compliant.
So what does this all have to do with professional power moves?
Studies show that if you are overweight and go in for an interview, you can be judged as being low energy, whether or not you are lazy and your ability to do a particular job! I am not saying this is right. I am however saying that this is the reality!
Let’s face it. You don’t have to be overweight to be unhealthy. There are plenty of slim people out there who can’t make it up a flight of stairs without gasping for air. I on the other hand no longer have those issues because I am maintaining a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly.
These are very personal power moves. No one can make you do these things until you are good and ready. I shared what worked for me and you can take from this what you think will work for you. #PowerMoveMonday #SolutionsNotResolutions. You got this!
