Saying Thank You
In commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, today’s power move is about saying thank you. Today has to be about gratitude. It cannot always be about you. You need to say thank you to someone at work who is doing a great job. Nominate someone for a professional award. Think about when someone nominated you for something or patted you on the back. How did you feel? Today is your chance to make someone else feel that way.
And if there is nothing like this where you work, CREATE IT. At your next staff meeting, host an impromptu ceremony. Print out some certificates and acknowledge the people around you for a job well done; for going above and beyond.
During the next professional development day or all-staff meeting, ask your boss if you can incorporate a moment of recognition into the agenda. Ask the upper management to name a few people who deserve a little extra attention. Even though you are being selfless, you will in turn be recognized as a leader who cares about your co-workers and supervisees.
It does have to be sincere and genuine. People see right through any fake attempts. This should be morale boosting and personable. Try it out. #PowerMoveMonday #SolutionsNotResolutions You got this!
