She wanted to provide mentorship opportunities for women who work in higher education or would like to dip their toes in the profession. Today the network is open to anyone interested in advancing their competencies in higher education.

In order to thrive in the highly competitive industry of higher education as well as successfully complete college, certain skill sets are necessary. Rosann has made a commitment to help Latinas develop their executive presence, both as students and as Latina professionals.

BECOME A NETWORKING WONDER WOMAN

LHE and Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Senoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc Pi Chapter at Yale hosted Become a Networking Wonder Woman at Yale University.

Why is networking important?
Proper networking is a sign of good communication, which is crucial to moving up in your career and standing out above the crowd.

Networking – either you love it or your hate it. Either way, there is no avoiding it. It is essential to communication in your professional life and can mean the difference between moving ahead or being left behind.

Not all networking has to be about high pressure, overdone social functions. Networking can take many forms and this event will provide you with a safe space to practice your networking skills.

COMMAND THE ROOM: Web Series

Curves and Curls in the Workplace: Doesn’t it seem like the world is clueless about dealing with curves and/or curls? If you have curves, the struggle is real to dress in a way that is comfortable, appropriate and fashionable. If you have curls, the struggle continues around the microaggressions or generally ignorant requests to touch them or implications that they would be anything but soft! Join me Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 9 p.m. on blab.im for an enlightening conversation about how to manage, dress and groom our beautiful and unique bodies and hair. I can’t wait to hear what you think.

Pumps & Stilettos: As I always say, “Black, conservative pumps and red stilettos can live in the same closet.” Knowing when to wear what can be tricky at times. Does your wardrobe allow you to stand out above the crowd? If so, do you stand out in a good way? Join me Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 9 p.m. on blab.im for some real talk about what we wear, when we wear it and should we wear it.

Dealing with Feedback: Getting feedback at work is so crucial to our professional development, but studies show that women of color do not get the kind of feedback they need. Supervisors are reluctant to provide feedback that could be seen as sexist or racist. Some of the onus falls on us also. We need to learn how to receive feedback. And what’s more, we need to learn how to solicit it and be prepared for critiques we don’t like. Join me Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 9 p.m. on blab.im to discuss strategies for giving, receiving and soliciting feedback.Who’s Your Dream Team?

Who’s Your Dream Team? So what IS the difference between a mentor, a sponsor and just a plain old friend? It’s important for us to have our own personal Board of Directors to help steer us in the right direction. And how do we recruit this dream team? Join me on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 9 p.m. on blab.im to discuss who should be on your board and how to recruit them.
